[SOLVED] [Server2008R2SP1] ERROR 8000FFFF can't install KB4054518

Hi guys:

I saw a lot of similar and great threads in this forum but I couldn't find anything to help me fix the ERROR with 8000FFFF.
I tryed sfc /scannow, no issues reported.
I tryed "Step #3 – SURT/DISM Scan" , the "CheckSUR.log"reads as follows:

In fact, in addition to this server, I have several servers here also have the same issue(Error 8000FFFF).

I spent 2 weeks looking for ways to solve this issue, but none of them found it.


Occasionally found this forum to see someone here has been helped to solve the same issue (OS is not the same), so I very much hope that someone can help me to solve this issue.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. Please attempt to install KB4056895 and if it fails please zip up and upload your entire c:\windows\logs\cbs folder. As you mentioned it will likely be too large to simply attach to the forum so please upload to a file sharing website such as SendSpace and just provide the link in your next reply.

Also, what Antivirus are you using?

The anti-virus software I use is McAfee.


Because the server is not around,I can only upload CBS files to the file-sharing network tomorrow.

No problem. Will you be able to completely uninstall McAfee on the server as a part of troubleshooting (if needed)?

Sure I can uninstall McAfee on the server as a part of troubleshooting if you needed.

Please attempt to uninstall the December Monthly rollup (KB4054518). Let me know if it's successful.

Do you have Internet Explorer 11 installed?

Yes . Internet Explorer 11 is installed.
The version is: 11.0.9600.18697.

Amazing!
I uninstall IE11, and then restart the server and found KB4054518 normal installation!
And other windows updates can be installed normally.


How do you find the cause of the problem? Really amazing!
