Hi there

I've been battling KB5022291 update for hours, would greatly appreciate some help.
This is a Windows Server 2022 Std install which is used as a terminal server.
I've tried just about everything I can find to try, including:
  • Windows Update Troubleshooter
  • Resetting Windows Updates, clearing the download/temp folders
  • SFC /Scannow
  • DISM restorehealth
  • Uninstalling security software
  • Downloading the update and manually installing it, as well as downloading the previous "out of band" update and trying to install that, which also fails.

Whenever I try installing the update, either through the settings or from the manual download, it gets to 100% then asks to reboot, I tell it to reboot, it goes to the blue screen and configures windows and gets to 8% then reboots, it comes back to the blue screen and says stopping services briefly then reboots again, comes back to the blue screen and says configuring for a while before it says "We couldn't complete the updates, undoing changes"

In the Windows Update history it shows failed 0x8007000d

The CBS folder was too big to upload, here is the link
Gofile - Free Unlimited File Sharing and Storage

Component Scanner output is attached.

Thanks a lot
Anthony

Hi Sysnative team,
I see the CBS file has been downloaded a few times, so I really hope someone is looking into this.
I don't mind that it's taking a little while, I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction eventually.
Thanks a lot :giggle:

I just noticed your update about response times and this is normal. I see you guys are volunteers and it looks like you guys do a great job. Sorry if i've come across pushy, thanks for looking into it :-)

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\INF folder.
  • Right-click on the file setupapi.dev.log and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

Hi,

  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command line and press Enter.
Code:
reg query "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services" /s > "%userprofile%\desktop\RegExp.txt"
  • When finished, a logfile called RegExp.txt is saved on your desktop.
  • Post the logfile as attachment in your next reply.

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear the updates installed succesfully after replacing the two corrupted registry keys.
I'll mark this thread as solved.
