  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Please see attached for SFCFix.txt.

The DISM command came back with

Code:
100% The restore operation completed successfully.

I have attached a copy of the CBS Log to be thorough.

I am also running Windows Update to determine if the original issue has resolved.

I rebooted the server and then ran the DISM command you specified which came back with the following,

Code:

I rebooted the server again and ran Windows Update and received the following message

Code:
2024-6 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based System (KB5039217) - Error 0x800f0986

Notice the change from *985 in the previous Windows Update run to *986.

Please see CBS.zip for fresh CBS logs.

Hi,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

2024-6 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based System (KB5039217) states that it installed successfully. Server is currently rebooting and showing

Code:
Working on updates 100% complete. Don't turn off your computer

I have remote file system access so I am watching the CBS log and seeing a ton of lines similar to the following,
Code:
2024-07-12 10:38:14, Info CBS Startup: Package: Package_1766_for_KB5034768~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.12 completed startup processing, new state: Absent, original: Resolved, targeted: Absent. hr = 0x0

Time stamps and packages keep updating so I am trusting that everything is okay and it's just chewing through a ton of housekeeping.

2024-6 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based System (KB5039217) installed successfully. It's now working on 2024-07 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (KB5040430) along with several others. I would say that we can mark this thread as solved.

Thank you so much for your help on this!
