I have had Cumulative Updates failing for a couple months now on a majority of my 2019 servers. The updates install then upon reboot says there was a problem and it rolls back. I think it could be related to a driver but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Follow these instructions to remove an update.
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:4601060
  • Let me know if it says it was successful or you get the message: The update KB4601060 is not installed on this computer.

It said it uninstalled. I cannot do a reboot now as the server is in use but I will restart tonight. What are next steps after reboot?

Thanks.

Hi,

Okay, please reboot the server over night and then try to update again. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Hi,

Upload the setupapi.dev.log file
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\INF folder.
  • Right-click on the file setupapi.dev.log and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

OK after all those steps rebooting and trying again it looks like it is updated. I am going to try it on the rest of the servers. I will keep you posted. Thanks so much!!
