We have a Windows 2019 VM which has been unable to install any Windows Cumulative Updates for some time. SFC /Scannow finds errors it can't fix and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth fails with Error Code 0x800f081f.
I have attached the ComponentScanner log as stated in the Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions and attached the CBS.zip

The file is present in the last .zip file so can't see why SFCFix failed to find it.

Try downloading a new copy of SFCFix.zip and then try running the fix again.

I need to take a look at your COMPONENTS hive ...

  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • The file will likely be too large to upload here, if so please upload to a file sharing service.
  • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

Please post me the link to the file

The maximum was 30MB, so I thought that 23MB will fit just fine, but probably it didn't.
I don't see a file attached in my previous post, which I did.The TransferKit isn't reachable, because their ip has changed.
The SendFileOnline didn't upload and stayed on 0%
The WeTransfer needs a email-address to inform about the file I have for you and I don't have this.

Please try updating, and if successful let me know.

If unsuccessful please post me your latest CBS.log file. (no need to post the contents of the whole CBS folder, just the CBS.log will do)

Yes, this last script and file fixed it for me and I am able to use the Windows Update again.
Thank you for this and your help and the help of this forum is very much appreciated!

You're welcome. Glad to hear that we were able to help you, and that you can now update.

I'll mark this topic as solved then.
