I'm trying to solve an issue with not being able to install 2020-08 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) for x64-based Systems (KB4565349) (previous months have been failing as well) - it always fails with 0x800f0922 and undoes the update.

I have done the following so far:

1. sfc /scannow - Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
2. Run SFCFix.exe tool - it crashed:

SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro.
Start time: 2020-08-24 15:46:19.237
Microsoft Windows Server 10 Build 17763 - amd64
Not using a script file.

SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro has encountered an unhandled exception.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.
Finish time: 2020-08-24 15:50:25.850

3. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup - The operation completed successfully.
4. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore - The operation completed successfully.
5. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:d:\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess - error 0x800f081f "The source files could not be found".

Not sure what else I can try ... I have attached CBS.ZIP.
Any help appreciated!

Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, do the following:

Should I try to sfc /scannow again or install the 2020-08 Cumulative Update now?

Code:
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

SFC looks good, Windows Update next?

So stop/manual "World Wide Web Publishing Service/W3SVC" and then do Windows Update, reboot, hopefully update installs and then re-enable IIS?

I can remove the IIS role, not a feature. I want to make sure I will not lose my current IIS configuration after doing this though...

Tried to remove the IIS role and got this:

The request to add or remove feature on the specified server failed. Removal of one or more roles, role services, or features failed. Error: 0x8000ffff

Managed to uninstall IIS role by removing only few features at once. Rebooted the server, tried to install 2020-08 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) for x64-based Systems (KB4565349), at 96% ..Undoing Changes ...again.

Thank you for the logs.

I was correct, a feature is likely causing this mess:
