Server 2019 corrupt Windows?

Hello! About a week ago our domain controller (Server 2019) started failing backups. Upon logging into the server I found that the desktop, start menu etc. was missing. With my remote tools I can access the task manager and start some tasks successfully - though not windows explorer. I attempted numerous fixes (including chkdsk, sfc scans) that all completed successfully (though the SFC scan only goes through the verification phase and then stops with no errors) but did not resolve the issue. I tried rebooting the server and after reboot it boots directly into recovery. I again ran chkdsk and sfc scans but did not find anything. When attempting to run a bootrec the server would not even find the OS. I ended up restoring the server from backup (just the C: and boot volumes) to get the server back up which worked successfully. Fast forward to today where I noticed backups failed starting Friday night. Logged into the server and am seeing exactly the same indications as last week. Has anyone seen this? Does anyone have any suggestions? I do not want to just restore the server again because now that this has happened twice I fear that it will happen again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll take a look at the log files tonight for you.

However, in the meantime, could you please run the commands in these posting instructions - Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions

If there is any errors, then I will ask one of the WU team to help out. Just want to ascertain if there is any issues with your system files.
