Hello!
Seen a couple threads here where this is able to get fixed and hoping we can avoid a rebuild on these. Updates aren't working and SFC finds corruption but is unable to fix, DISM just gives a "Source files cannot be found" error even if you point it at an alternate server. CBS log does show corrupt files, but also shows missing replacement manifests and missing replacement payload errors.

I tried running the sfcfix from this site, but it crashes while reading the logs. Attached is both the CBS and DISM logs, any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1.
Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Incredible, that worked! From the log, am I understanding correctly that this was partially a permissions issue on the files in the winsxs recovery folder? Attached a copy of the sfcfix.log as well.

This was not a permission issue, these files were missing but to restore them it is needed to temporarily change the permissions and ownership of the folders and/or files in the WinSxS directory.

Are there any further issues, or is everything up and running?

Able to update to the latest cumulative so I believe we are all set, thank you!

You know, I had checked so many 2016 servers we have on site and NONE of them had these files or manifests available in their repositories, so thank you very much for finding and providing those as well, donated a bit to help you all keep this site running, too!

You're welcome and thanks for the donation. Glad to hear the problem has been resolved.... (y)
