Server 2016 Standard - WU/DISM/SFC failing

Been trying to resolve this on/off for a while now. The latest error WU error is...

..and yet the VM has access to the internet, and always has.

Code:
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.
C:\Windows\system32>
The 'trustedinstaller' service is running, and has been restarted.

Tried all sorts with SFC, SFCFix and DISM, with and without safe mode. Any help is appreciated.

Download the

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link

  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Thanks. Ran SFCFix with the specific ZIP/source files. Unfortunately not resolved, but DISM progressed further this time.

Do you have a identical server in your network? If so please run the following command, replace <ServerName> with the correct name of that machine.

Tried another Server 2016 Standard VM on the network, but it is patched to the latest, so not exactly identical.

Seems to fail at the same point. Am I right in thinking you mean the name of the faulty VM, essentially trying to force DISM to see the local repair source via UNC?
