Server 2016 HyperV Server failing to install updates. Retrying a 2018-10 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 (KB4462928) over and over

Sever 2016 will not update. Keeps retrying to install 2018-10 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems (KB4462928). - Error 0x80073701

All basic troubleshooting has been done.

Hi,

Follow these instructions to remove an update.

• Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
• When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
• When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.

wusa /uninstall /KB:4041691

• Let me know if it says it was successful or you get the message: The update KB4041691 is not installed on this computer.

The update was found and uninstalled. A reboot shows as pending. Ill schedule in a reboot to complete this.

Can i try installing the latest cumulative update after the reboot or should i try something else first?

Yes, please attempt to update after the reboot. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.
