I've had a persistent problem where every Security Monthly Quality Rollup fails. This started about 10 months ago at about the time where I had to replace an SSD drive and installed an image backup. Or, it may not be related. I've tried several times to fix this on my own without success so I'm asking for help from this forum.

Below is the output from SFCFix.exe:

SFCFix version 3.0.1.0 by niemiro.

Hello Walter welcome to Sysnative,

According to the logs there is one update that need to be repaired, please follow this steps:

Install Update using Dism
  1. Please download KB4093118 http://download.windowsupdate.com/d..._5ea1778b896fcc764e0db8da7d094f62dc98d82f.msu save the file to c:\windows\temp
  2. change the name of the update file to a smaller name windows6.1-KB4093118-x64.msu
(keep the extension .msu in the end of the file name in case its visible if not ignore that)
  3. open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
  4. type or Copy & Paste the following commands line by line:

    cd /d c:\windows\temp
    expand windows6.1-KB4093118-x64.msu -f:* C:\windows\temp
    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\windows\temp\windows6.1-KB4093118-x64.cab

  5. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)?
  6. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

If you receive any other message:
  7. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colours by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  8. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post please.

Thank you very much.
I've gotten to where I should run DSIM.exe, but I'm uncertain whether or not I should run DSIM.exe on a Windows 7 machine. If so, where should I get a copy of DSIM.exe for Win7?
Thanks,
Walter

Hi,

Simply Copy & Paste the command line I post, DISM is a standard tool included on Windows.

Yes, the commands ran exactly as you said they would. I see now that my mistake was seeing DSIM when DISM was clearly written.
I initially had some confusion because the GnuWin32 "expand" utility was on my path prior to C:\Windows\system32\expand.EXE. But after I figured that out everything ran as expected and Windows update completed successfully.
Thank you very much for your help in solving my problem.
Best regards,
Walter
