sfc scannow finds corrupt files that can't be repaired. Windows 7.

Hello. This started with my system restore not working, giving me error 0x0070005. Did some Googling, ended up on some site that suggested running sfc scannow.

Ran the sfc /scannow command.....Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files, but was unable to fix some of them. Ran scannow in safe mode....no luck that way either

Tried running a DISM command, got error 87: An error occurred while processing the command.

Ended up posting on bleeping computer, and someone there pointed me to this site, and their opinion is that the system restore issue is not related to this, most likely something with my Antivirus.
Regardless, I do know I have corrupt files, that so far, have not been repaired.
I followed all the instructions here
Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions

and here is the text from my SFCFix log:

Hi, and thanks! :)
Hate to ask what might be a dumb question, but how do I run SURT? I downloaded it the other day, and if I remember, it runs automatically, but I don't see it on my computer, so do I download again?

I have a feeling I did this part wrong as well. Sorry, if I did. Don't think the brackets are in the right place.

You did it correctly. Yes, download SURT again, but save the file just in case you need to run it again. When done, attach CheckSUR.log it produces.

Ok thanks. Yes....after my previous post, I found out I had to download it again, and yes, saving it this time! :)

Uploading it now. Reminds me why I need to get away from AT&T and switch to Comcast, lol. But the good news is that it said Windows Resource Protection didn't find any integrity violations!

hahaha, I know the pain, I was with a crappy ISP for 10 years, and then I just said enough and went to the nearest center and switched. My life has been wonderful ever since. OK, then you're all set. Are there any other issues?

Don't know if you still need this, but here you go. :) Dropbox - CBS.zip

Out of curiosity, was this a big deal, and any idea on how these files got corrupt? Like I said, I found it out on accident, with the system restore issue, which I don't think is related, but I can't help wonder if this was from a virus or?? Just curious.

And on a side note......any idea on why my system restore doesn't work, and giving me error 0x0070005?

No, this was not a virus. This can occur for a number of reasons. System being powered off while updates are pending, sudden power loss, file system corruption or something else.

The System Restore error means Access Denied, so your Antivirus software may be causing it, please completely uninstall it and try System Restore again. Temporarily disable UAC and try again. Something is preventing System Restore from working.

Ok thanks for the tip. Seems like it's worked fine in the past, and I've been using the same AV(NOD32) for years. In the event I uninstall it, and restore works, what might be the solution?? I'm not going to leave my AV uninstalled. Just curious.

Try another AV product.

I did some checking into it, and apparently, it's not uncommon with the one I use. Some people say they just restore in safe mode, or they disable the self defense in NOD32. Sounds like it's an issue with other AV products as well. I'll try the workarounds first.

Another quick question......say I'm successful, and restore back to a point, previous to you helping me fix the corrupt files, won't I have to fix them again?

Make a new post, but why would you restore? Create a new restore point NOW WHEN ALL IS FIXED.
Well, what led me to all this, and ending up here, was because system restore wouldn't work, but the original reason I was even trying to restore was, because I got a message from an Ebay seller, responding to a question I supposedly asked, but I never asked. The question was in my sent messages folder on Ebay. I've changed my password since, but I wondered how someone got it. Someone I know, has recently been sending these videos on Facebook, that I don't really care about, and I started wondering if there was a keylogger, or something else. Just being overcautious and proactive. My AV hasn't caught anything, nor has Malwarebytes, and no one seems to be logging into anything else, so maybe it was a fluke. But yeah......that's why I was trying to restore. Probably don't need to. If anything, maybe go back to bleeping computer, and have someone take a look.
