I am getting an 80070057 error code when trying to create a system rescue disc from within the control panel app "backup and restore"

My question is which processes-components-services need to be running for this procedure to work correctly from control panel. I can successfully create the rescue disk from the repair screen on an install disk using the recdisc.exe app. Why not from within Windows itself?

Many Thanks

Possibly this the result of deleting the System Reserved partition. I can recreate the partition but have not found which files should be copied to it so that when made active windows will boot correctly. What do you think? Does it make sense that win cp would look to the system reserved partition for creating a rescue disk but yet when creating one from the command prompt using a different rescue disc the recdisc.exe works fine??

I would expect recdisk.exe to work from wither Windows CP or CMD.

The only thing that I can think of off-hand is that running it via WCP, there may be added parameters that for some reason hinder successful creation of a repair disc.

It turned out that the C:\recovery folder had to be deleted and then recreate by the OS. Everything in the creation of the repair disk works now. This thread can be closed.

As a follow up note - it also works when one insures that the 30 character guid from C:\recovery matches the one in c:\windows\system32\recovery\reagent.xml. Once that is done the repair disc creation completes as expected.
