Hi,
I can not install any new security update on my Windows server 2016, it fails every time, even if I download it and try to install them manually.
I found, that sfc /scannow or dism tool doesn't work at all, they fails with error message immediately.
sfc /scannow results are "Windows Resource protection could not start the repair service"
After digging in CBS log, I found, that my COMPONENTS file is corrupted, server can not load this file.
I tried to copy COMPONENTS file and load it on another computer via regedit, but it failed, file is corrupted.
Is there some way how to repair this file? I checked Registry backup folder in C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack, but COMPONENTS file is not present here.
Could you recommend some tools or way how to correct COMPONENTS file?
