Hello
I'm having a recurring Windows Update failure problem that I'm pretty sure you've seen before and is probably nothing new, because a search of the individual KBxxxxxx numbers involved yields other posts dealing with same, but not necessarily with these same failed updates as a group.
Right now, there are 4 updates that always attempt to get installed every time I shut down, but always fail. What they have in common that the error code is always 800B0100, indicating a missing file. I've done a search for the name of the missing file, but cannot find it. I'm hoping that this problem is common enough that you'll recognize it right away, without having to do a deep investigation. Please let me know if I still have to run SFCFix to diagnose the problem, and I'll attempt to do so.
Checking my Windows Update History, here's the trail of the problem:
Started on 6/9/15 with KB3057839 failing to install every day. Then this all stopped on 7/14/15, and this update no longer tried to install itself.
Next day, 7/15/15, KB3070102 started failing every day. This, too, stopped on 8/11/15, to be replaced by KB3078601 daily failures, which persist to this day.
(Side question: when KB3057839 and KB3070102 stopped trying to update, does this mean they were superseded and I no longer need to be concerned with them?)
I had just one daily failure until 9/9/15 when KB3087039 joined in the fun. Then it was two daily failures until 11/11/15 when KB3097877 appeared.
Bottom line, my 4 daily failures are now:
KB3078601
KB3087039
KB3109094
kB3134214
Two others, KB3097877 and KB3124000, have come and gone. To my knowledge, the 4 that have "come and gone" have never been successfully applied.
Any ideas? I'd appreciate your help, please.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. Let me know if you need additional info.
Thanks,
David
