Hi

Wonder if you can help me please.

Just of late my system seems to take longer to start and close and when I click on a program to launch it, they are not as responsive as before.

Event manager shows a number of ID 200 etc.

Security is MS Securities Essentials and currently a trial of Malwarebytes full. Possibly suspect that.

My system: Attached.

Many thanks

Why do you suspect that? Did the slow down happen after you installed MBAM?

FTR, I use MSE and MBAM on all my W7 systems and Windows Defender and MBAM on my W8 systems because together, they protect me without bogging my systems down.

According to this, event ID 200 is often cause by wayward apps and device drivers loading at startup. Have you made any recent changes there? Any errors in Device Manager?

Hi, slow down started after I installed the programme update for MBAM and took the free trial.
No recent changes.
No errors in device manager.

Thanks

Can I also add that despite enabling them via CMD and using the Extensible Counter listing tool, my disk performance counters keep getting switched back off.
This is highly infuriating and I have no idea what is causing it, happens after time, even with no reboot involved!

If me, I would uninstall MBAM, reboot and see what happens. You can always install it back.

Hi, OK done that and used an uninstaller to do it.

System seems back to normal, most odd??? I've used MBAM for years, maybe it was the full version (trail) causing the issue.
I'll reinstall, keep to the free version and see how it performs and report back
