Hi Tanya :)

My name is Aura and I'll be assisting you with your issue. Follow the instructions below please.

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select
    Spcusrh.png
    Run as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't have the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

Hello again,

I have a problem
I get the message when trying to run sfc scannow
"another servicing or repair operation is currently running"

Can you please help?

If you are receiving that error message when attempting to run SFC, you need to restart your computer. If even after the restart you get that error message, let me know.

Thank you for the log Tanya :) Now, we'll run SURT and see if it have anything for us.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

Hi Aura,
I downloaded the SURT tool and installed and the first thing it said was it needed to do a hotfix KB 947821. However the 'installing' has been just sitting there doing nothing....the green bar hasn't even appeared.

I opened checksur log and this is what it says:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Checking System Update Readiness.[/FONT]

I'm guessing it isn't complete?

Good :) Since SURT didn't return anything, we're ready to proceed. How many updates are you trying to install now?

Hi again :grin1:

34 important
5 optional

Literally only a handful have successfully installed since October 2013
My update history is 95% Fails since then :noidea:

ty!

Alright, try to install your updates now. If they fail, upload the two files below for me to review.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
