RAID Volumes issue, pls help to resolve (to select 1 of 4 options to remove this DOS page)

Hello,

The RAID Volumes DOS page has been like this for a while and is not affecting anything but when you look at the pics I sent you it clearly is showing that I would need to select 1 of 4 answers to remove that page BUT I am too afraid to touch and risk messing up the PC so I prefer not to touch it unless you have the answer. I have the standard C drive (464 GB) and I had to add a 2nd HD (1 TB) as E Drive since ran out of room on C mainly due to audio recordings.

If anybody knows what 1 of 4 selections to choose much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi!

Please post some logs: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 8.
And a screenshot of your bios settings: usually, in the advanced menu, there is the sata/ide/ahci/irst option ("configure sata as", "sata device", "sata mode selection", and so forth).
  • Enable the automatic system registry backup (to c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack).
    Read More:
  • Create a system restore point.
    Read More:
  • Create a system image, backup your important files, passwords, licence keys.

Hi, xilolee, and thanks for the prompt reply to Jarod.

Just letting you know that we just finished the cleaning procedure at the Security Arena, and there is already a fresh System Restore point. Also, Jarod mentioned that he is doing a data backup regularly.

Hi,
First off thanks again Dr. M. (In Forrest Gump that scene where the drill Seargent tells Forest You gonna make a fine general one day, well over here we say Dr. M You gonn'a make a fine sound engineer one day)

I can follow pretty much any instructions, but I need the steps to be more streamlined for a lay person like me.

BTW I am running a Win 10 Pro 64 bit

1) Please post some logs: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 11, 10, 8.1 and 8.
I downloaded that SysnativeBSODCollectionApp and put it in the documents (see file attachment screen shot of where I put it... ops sorry can't sent a screenshot I copy pasted into a word document, anyway it's the documents folder in my explorer of Windows 10, there only is one so it must be that one) and yes after SysnativeBSODCollectionApp was done a few mins later, I had to kill CMD screen with task manager as it kept running. But in the documents folder where we have the app and the new created folder there is no zip file.

- Am I supposed to create a zip file and send it here? max zip is 8MB, folder is 25.8MB even if delete folder is EvtxAppDump.txt is 934KB, EvtxSysDump is 18.8MB so if remove these 2 txt as instructed yes we will be safe but do I cerate the zip file or is it supposed to be done automatically as there is nothing there in Documents folder

2) And a screenshot of your bios settings: usually, in the advanced menu, there is the sata/ide/ahci/irst option ("configure sata as", "sata device", "sata mode selection", and so forth).

- I do not know where to look for this. Pls give steps on where to look for this. I want to learn.

Thanks

  1. In the documents folder, you may find:
    • SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder.
    • SysnativeFileCollectionApp zipped file (the previous folder zipped).
If the zipped file isn't available, but the folder is, zip it up and upload it here.
  2. To enter bios settings, press DEL repeatedly while the computer reboots.
Then navigate through menus to get confidence with the bios.
The setting you should search and find is usually located in the advanced menu.
    Take a photo.
Exit bios without saving the settings!
    Then send the photo here...

Hello,

1. In the documents folder, you may find:

SysnativeFileCollectionApp folder.

SysnativeFileCollectionApp zipped file (the previous folder zipped).
If the zipped file isn't available, but the folder is, zip it up and upload it here.

There is no zipped file, folder so had to create one from IZArc included as a file attachment

2. To enter bios settings, press DEL repeatedly while the computer reboots.
Then navigate through menus to get confidence with the bios.
The setting you should search and find is usually located in the advanced menu.
Take a photo.
Exit bios without saving the settings!
Then send the photo here...

The only way to get into the settings was hitting F12 repeatedly at start up. Then took some pics with cell of following included attachments.

Thanks

I assume you have taken the necessary precautions.

  • Click windows start, type settings, press enter.
The settings app should be opened.
  • Click Update and security, click Recovery, click Restart now.
    You'll see a blue window.
  • Click troubleshoot, click advanced options, click startup settings, click restart.
    The computer will restart.
  • Hit F12 repeatedly at start up, and enter in your bios settings.
Change the sata operation from the third option to the first one: raid autodetect/AHCI
Click Apply and then exit the bios.
  • Now the computer should ask you how do you want to start the computer, with a list of options.
    Hence you click SAFE MODE.
Until windows in safe mode appears, it should do the changes to have ahci enabled...
  • When windows in safe mode is available, reboot to windows normal mode.
If something goes wrong after these operations, enter again in your bios settings and select the third option (raid on), apply and exit.

Hello,
Thanks for reply but before I finish the steps just want to verify with you what I did so far, my questions are in bold red fonts

RAID Volumes issue, pls help to resolve

I assume you have taken the necessary precautions. What do you mean by have taken the necessary precautions?

  • Click windows start, type settings, press enter.
The settings app should be opened.
  • Click Update and security, click Recovery, click Restart now.
    You'll see a blue window.
  • Click troubleshoot, click advanced options, click startup settings, click restart.
    The computer will restart.
  • Hit F12 repeatedly at start up, and enter in your bios settings. Boot Device Menu/ System Setup then opens another page light purple page Settings/Drives/SATA Operation currently set to RAID On
Change the sata operation from the third option to the first one: raid autodetect/AHCI (A warning appears Warning SATA Operation is being changed! Attention! Changing this setting may prevent your operating system from booting or require a reinstall. Are you sure you would like to continue? Yes or No) If I choose Yes is that not risky? Or is it just standard operating procedure to ask this?
Click Apply and then exit the bios.
  • Now the computer should ask you how do you want to start the computer, with a list of options.
    Hence you click SAFE MODE.
Until windows in safe mode appears, it should do the changes to have ahci enabled...
  • When windows in safe mode is available, reboot to windows normal mode.

The ones I listed in the first reply:
- Enable the automatic system registry backup (to c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack).
- Create a system restore point.
- Create a system image, backup your important files, passwords, licence keys.

Boot Device Menu/ System Setup then opens another page light purple page Settings/Drives/SATA Operation currently set to RAID On
Change the sata operation from the third option to the first one: raid autodetect/AHCI

(A warning appears Warning SATA Operation is being changed! Attention! Changing this setting may prevent your operating system from booting or require a reinstall. Are you sure you would like to continue? Yes or No)

If I choose Yes is that not risky? Or is it just standard operating procedure to ask this?
We (you) are trying to change the configuration from RAID to AHCI, given that you don't use RAID.
That message is normal.
If the procedure won't work, it should be sufficient to set the previous setting (raid on).

I assume you have taken the necessary precautions. Xilolee answered me in a later message that it is a SOP message and no worries.

  • Click windows start, type settings, press enter.
The settings app should be opened.

    You'll see a blue window.
  • Click troubleshoot, click advanced options, click startup settings, click restart.

Changing this setting may prevent your operating system from booting or require a reinstall. Are you sure you would like to continue? Yes or No) If I choose Yes is that not risky? Or is it just SOP aka standard operating procedure to ask this? Xilolee answered me in a later message that it is a SOP message and no worries.
Click Apply (click apply then freezes and even unplug/replug KB and mouse will not work, then finally does after unplug, replug again both KB and mouse) and then exit the bios.
  • Now the computer should ask you how do you want to start the computer, with a list of options.
    Hence you click SAFE MODE.
Until windows in safe mode appears, it should do the changes to have ahci enabled...
  • When windows in safe mode is available, reboot to windows normal mode.
RESULT: All good as RAID page gone, did get center Windows logo, then a circular motion, then Black Screen and nothing for minutes …finally Blue Screen and Windows landscape wallpaper. Wait for PC to load then shut down and start again to verify again. ALL GOOD.
I think what I did wrong in the past is did not pass thru the Safe Mode step.
    (Hence you click SAFE MODE.
Until windows in safe mode appears, it should do the changes to have ahci enabled...)
