Hello,

I´m trying to solve this issue:

1.- After restart the system got a blackscreen after loggin that last 30 minutes. When the screen appeared again , all went to be
normal and the PC seems to work properly. To be honest I have had from many years ago these kind of delay problem 15-20 minutes
until the system go properly, but never blackscreen as now and never so long -exactly- 30 minutes.

Looking in the web for advices, I applied some features to solve the problem with a little success:

1.- running a disk repair from the administrative tools, that found and repaired an entire spoilt block
2.- running chkdsk /f /a using MS-DOS with a installation disk Windows 7-SP1 not multilanguage that I got from Microsoft. I can´t run that withouth dismounting the unit, by the way.
3.- running the antivirus I can Access from my system: Norton, Spybot and Defender, with no remarkable or dangerous results more than those minor that Spybot usually found.
4.- With the installation disk I can´t use the start up repair because the system asked for some compatibility I can´t bring just now. So the only use of the usb is access to MS-DOS
5.- Also I haven´t a restore point as -my fault- I never back-up nothing like that from 10 years. A shame.
6.- From the MS-DOS window in the installation usb, I ran successfully: bootrec / fixmbr and /fixboot
7.- Using the safe mode the system run fine
8.- Finally I used a windows repair tool, that don´t solve nothing in my opinion.

NOW

The system is much better -not more black screen- but still 10 minutes to be stable

The symptoms during those 10 minutes are that the explorer process freezes easily, for instance if I write down "msconfig" all
the menus in that instance result blocked: control panel,...,documents, and msconfig wait those 10 minutes to step the window
and then unblock all the system, I can´t even write down more letters in the "search program and files" row.

And the other issue is when I try to open a branch using the right button of the mouse in some directories using the explorer, it freezes.
But this happens also when the system is stable, and I wonder is this is really the same cause.

Finally,

I´m trying to fix all the possible sources of this problem, so I ran sfc /scannow

The first attempt, doing that at least 3 times, the feature stop exactly at the 24%.
Running your tool failed the first time, and the second time exited with:

CBS & SFC total detected corruption count: 192
CBS & SFC total unimportant corruption count: 0
CBS & SFC total fixed corruption count: 60
SURT total detected corruption count: 0
SURT total unimportant corruption count: 0
SURT total fixed corruption count: 0
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.

If that can be helpful I add that record with the extension 001.

Then running again sfc / scannow it can end the 100%
After that I ran again your tool and the record is !!!:

CBS & SFC total detected corruption count: 1223
CBS & SFC total unimportant corruption count: 0
CBS & SFC total fixed corruption count: 46
SURT total detected corruption count: 0
SURT total unimportant corruption count: 0
SURT total fixed corruption count: 0
AutoAnalysis:: directive completed successfully.

I´m sure in a way I´m not doing the things well,
so I need some help or at least orientate me
how to solve this.

I´m Spanish so I wonder if asking here for help
is accepted, sorry for my bad English, and if
that upset you in any way only tell me to
stop using your time.

Thank you

Hi!

Let's test your HDD:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.

Hello again, and thank you for the answer,

I ran the GSmartControl as you suggested and immediately -less than a minute- showed an error stopping the scan, as you can see in the log and 2 capture screens.
The hard disk unit is about 8-10 yo as long as the windows 7 installation.
