It seems the SURT link is dead for now.
Please provide the other logs as requested.

Hi Peter,

I have gone thru all the steps now and here is the link to the WE-transfer with the SFCFix and the CBS zipped files.

link

Use the link in this post to download SURT.
Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and provide a log.
  1. Download SURT for your system. (Windows 7 SP1 x64)
  2. Once downloaded, execute the installer, and go through the installation (this process can take around 15-20 minutes).
  3. On completion, a log will be created in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log.
  4. Attach this log to your next reply.
Alternatively, if these instructions are unclear for you, you can follow the tutorial below.
System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

Hi Peter,

I have tried to download the software but SURT link doesn't work. Then i went to the download site by using the link address and i tried to click on the link witch in my case is win 7 64 bit but nothing happens. I took the search path and then something was downloaded but first of all it isn't close to the size of 525.8 mb witch is written on the download site. The file that i was able to download was 413 mb and it does not start any installation process. I tried as an admin but it didn't work.

I tried to download some other of the options but nothing happens with those either.

Is there any other way to get the tool?

Kind Regards
Pär

I have tried to download the software but SURT link doesn't work.
I tested the downloadlink before posting and tested now again. Does work here.

The file that i was able to download was 413 mb and it does not start any installation process.
The file size is 413kb, not 413mb!
It is a normal executable file (.exe as extension)
What happens if you double-click the downloaded file ? You should see a Security warning message asking if you want to run this legit file.
What Antivirus program do you use ? Disable its real-time protection while running the SURT tool.

Hi Peter,

I manage to download the exe file using the search path. It is a exe file, however when i double click the file it executes but not as a usual installation file. It just shows a progress bar for a split second and that is all. I have tried to install it as a admin but with the same result . The only difference between just double click the exe file or trying to install it as a admin is that when double click, the security dialogue appears. When i accept installation it follows by this quick visual toolbar for half a second and disappears without any installation routine. I have also tried it with the firewall and security turned of, same result.

I have attached a picture of the update history plus a picture of the checksurpackage file so that you can see that i could download it.

From the beginning there was two updates that failed. I could identify one of the fails to be something that had a connection to visual studio 2019. So what i did was to update visual studio because there was a newer version to install. That solved one of the problems. But this .Net 5.0.5 Update for x64 client problem still remains.

I don't know if the last information can give some clue. Maybe it is the Visual Studio that causes the problem, perhaps an uninstall of Visual Studio could solve some problems.

Kind Regards
Pär

The tool SURT will not appear in the update history.
Attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log to your next reply.

That log file is still an old file so SURT did not run.
Delete the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
Try to run the downloaded SURT again. Please report the result and when available the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Hi Peter,
I did as you said and removed the old checkSUR log. Unfortunately it didn't change anything. Exactly the same thing happened. A very short, half a second progress bar appears and disappears without anything happen.

Could it be of any use to run the WUReset for win 7?

Kind Regards

Hi again,

I have been checking this update and i run "dotnet --info" and by that result list this .NET 5.0.5 is already installed and .NET 5.0.6. Can it be some kind of miss match between the newer version which was installed before .NET 5.0.5. Strange that a newer version of .NET is sent out before the older version.
i have attached a picture of the list. Maybe if i uninstall the .NET 5.0.6 it will work.
Well that was just an observation.

Kind Regards
Pär

Lets have a more detailed look of your system.

FRST Scan:
  1. Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:
64-bit: Downloading Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  2. Rename the tool FRST64.exe into EnglishFRST64.exe.
  3. Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  4. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  5. Press the Scan button.
  6. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  7. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Hi Peter,

I have been running the fix now and attached the file. It went as you wrote. It restarted the computer and a file was created on the desktop.

Kind Regards
Pär
