Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB3197868-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB3197868-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up. If you do get errors, please zip/attach your CBS.log

Thanks you softwaremaniac, it worked!

Would it be a problem if you could tell me how you knew that this KB had to be reinstalled? Were you looking for anything specific in the logs?
I really would like to learn this and do this kind of troubleshooting for my servers in future. Is there any guide for this ?

Thanks you in advance for any info

Hi! I'm glad this worked! Yes, there was a component missing:

2018-06-04 14:58:39, Info CBS Perf: Stage chain complete.

I traced the missing component back to an update and had you install it.

Unfortunately, there are no guides, we have a private academy here that teaches people how to do this.

Thank you for reply.
I think I can fix similar ones now if they happen on other servers :)
