Hi Folks,
I sure hope someone can help me here.
I have a Asus G750JX with Windows 8.1 - after windows updates the machine booted to black screen with white cursor. I finally figured out if I click around on the screen I can find the pw box for log in and hit enter - this brings me to my desktop but there's a lot of problems. Cntrl+ALT+del gives me a black screen. The start button does not work, I can't run most programs or go to system properties by right clicking on MY computer or I get error "VCRUNTIME140.dll Is Missing".
I've tried sfc /scannow - and it fails. I've tried dism and it tells invalid windows. I've tried windows 8.1 disk, I've tried upgrading to windows 10.. no luck.
Can anyone help me get this windows install repaired? Also - I did just make registry back ups and restore points. The restore points won't show up however. I have tried restoring the registry back ups from a few days before this problem and it did not make a difference so I don't think it's a registry issue. I have made several back ups of the entire drive and even got a new drive thinking that was the problem. I can experiment freely with no worry of data loss, but I do need to get this fixed soon if possible!
Thanks in advance!
