Good Morning Everyone;

Bobster52 here...Having just recovered from an episode of ridding the computer of the "Zero-Access" rootkit with the Help of Will & Corrine, have discovered while putting the Vista House back in order, there seems that a couple of things with the system that have gone array...Have been dilligent, and have gotten most problems fixed...There is one I just can't find the answer to...Any help would be appreciated...

Explaination...Running Vista 64-bit along with Microsoft's Wireless "Entertainment Desktop 7000" keyboard & mouse, they have worked, but ever since the virus attack , I have noticed that they loose connectivity from time to time...So when I went into the control panel and clicked on the Bluetooth Icon, it was to my suprise, that it was empty, not showing the mouse or keyboard, did a little troubleshooting and found that in Device Manager, they were missing the Intelli- Point & Intelli-Type Drivers and were listed as HID Devices...I further found that in the Services Console The Bluetooth Service was set to Manual, was set to Stop and under Log on was set to This Account, so I changed the Log on to Local Account without "Let this account interact with the desktop", changed the start-up to Automatic, and started the service...That I thought would have gotten the Bluetooth stack up and running again... next troubleshooting involved deleting the mouse & keyboard out of Device Manager, and then re-installing the Intelli-Type & Point Software...Rebooted the computer, took out and reinstalled the Microsoft Bluetooth Transceiver, Pushed the button on that, screen prompt opened up, followed the prompt to push the bottons on the mouse and keyboard, screen said they were connected, then said that, (Heres The Problem) Windows is configuring your Bluetooth Transciever to enable you to connect other Bluetooth Devices to your computer, (Bar Graph), when it finishes it states, "You're Mouse & Keyboard are connected, However you will not be able to connect any other Bluetooth Devices to this Transciever",which is keeping me fron connecting my other Bluetooth Stuff, (Printer, ect.) ...Still no Mouse & Keyboard in the Bluetooth folder in Control Panel...

One last thing I remembered was, when first installing the Entertainment Desktop 7000, in 2007, there was a green card with the manuel that said "Important" you must go to "www.microsoft.com/hardware/vistaupdate", and install the update, before installing the hardware...(Also remembering that I had wiped the HD on 03/12/2012, and did a clean install of Vista) thinking that maybe that was the problem...When I went to that website, Microsoft said "We can't find that", so I did a little more digging to find that that update was actually KB925528x64, searched "Installed Updates" and it was'nt there, so went to the Microsoft Update Catalog to find that Update was replaced by KB941600x64...Downloaded that to the Desktop, and ran, a box opened up saying "Searching for Updates", then another box opened saying "This Update is not applicable to you're System", and then closes out , not letting me install it???

Just can't figure out how to find a fix for this, pretty sure it has somehting to do with the Bluetooth Stack in Vista itself, any input would be a great help....Thanks again, Bobster52

Well, I've been using a similar BT setup (MS 5000 wireless KB and Mouse) on my W7 system for over 3 years with no significant problems.

I personally would suggest you uninstall everything having to do with the keyboard and mouse, including the keyboard and mouse and temporarily use a standard wired mouse and KB. Make sure you reboot with the wired setup, and make sure everything else works fine. Then download and install the KB and mouse drivers as per instructions found here.

Oh yeah, I said no significant problems but forgot to explain. Ironic as those problems were due to forgetting to check/change the batteries. Now I use my computer for several hours every day, so you mileage may vary but I have to change the batteries in my keyboard and mouse about every 5-6 months. So make sure your batteries are still good.
