The problems associated with this thread - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/15708-internet-explorer-will-not-update.html apparently created a problem with our payroll program. In an effort to get that application working the vendor (SAGE SOFTWARE) had me delete a windows update (KB2968294) and then restart the machine. When I did a Start - Restart the machine, the screen has been stuck on "Preparing to configure windows - do not turn off your computer" for over an hour.
I am, as you might imagine, reluctant to power down the PC, but it isn't doing me any good as it is now.
Is there anything I can try other than let it go overnight and see what happens when I return in the morning?
