Hello,
I am having issues with updating one of my servers. Dism and sfc scan works, but no update. When I run windows update trouble shooter I get "Potential windows update database error detected" i have tried to fix it via troubleshooter but fails to fix it.

Any advice is hugely appreciated.
I have attached the cbs and component scanner results below.

Hi,

Step 1. Download
6530fbb0f4101-56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Hi,

Please attach the latest CBS logs, as well as the result of SFXFix to see if the fix completed successfully.

Hi,

Verify the catalog database by using Esentutl
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following commands one at a time into the command prompt and press enter after each.
Code:
net stop cryptsvc
esentutl /g %systemroot%\System32\catroot2\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}\catdb
net start cryptsvc
  • Take a screenshot of the command prompt window and paste it into your next reply.

Please attempt to update again but don't use the WU troubleshooter or other tools. When the update fails provide a new copy of the CBS logs and the following log file.

Export the Windows Update log
  • Right-click on the Start button and click Windows PowerShell (Admin).
  • Copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards
Code:
Get-WindowsUpdateLog
  • Wait for the message "WindowsUpdate.log written to C:\Users\<username>\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.log".
  • Attach the logfile WindowsUpdate.log to your next reply.

Hi,

  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Could you please attach a screenshot of the System32 and Catroot2 folder, and are you able to open that folder?

As attached, and yes I can open the folder.

Thanks
