Hello,

My desktop in running Windows 7 Professional x 64 bit S.P. 1 V6.01 Build 7601.

I recently installed new system protection NOD 32 and OSArmor and removed the previous protection of Bit defender Free and Private Firewall. Everything worked okay but some problems have arisen.

I was having a "problem" with junctions. I found one answer online that recommended using one portion of Tweaking.com' All in one repair to solve this problem. It seems to have done so but now I have permission problems for everything.

For example if I type services.msc into the run box (Start run) I get no response. The same is true for eventvwr.msc and perfmon.msc. I assume other .msc files would act likewise.

If I go thru Start > Control Panel > System & Security > Administrative Tools an double-click on event viewer

I have attached the error information I receive using the above method of accessing the event viewer.

Sorry to be so long winded.

Any help appreciated.

Hi. . .

Uninstall OSArmor. See if there is a removal tool available for OSArmor and Bit Defender to assure that kernel mode and boot drivers are removed.

Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software

You'll be fine with ESET and Windows Firewall.

If you started having problems with Junctions after Bit Defender Removal, run Windows System Restore first; select a restore point prior to Bit Defender removal.
START | type rstrui

What type of problems are you having with Junctions? Which one(s)?

Hello,

I couldn't find an uninstaller for Bit Defender free. Searching online every answer I found led back to the BitDefender website. However, I couldn't find any information about Bitdefender Free. I also could not find an uninstaller for OSArmor

I use a utility named Total Uninstall where by it records all changes to the computer system and then removes it if required. It doesn't quite remove 100%.

I next used Ultra File Search Lite and found more files related to OSArmor and Bitdefender and removed those

I then went into the registry and searched it with the find >> find next search.

I also found a few using Sysinternals Auto Run and removed them.

I made restore points before each cleaning and have others before those.

Anyway, the computer started well. I went to turn on Windows Firewall through the control panel and received this message.

Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x80070422.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks

I did more research and found another BitDefender file to delete.

I did an SFC scannow the result being that it was unable to repair certain problems.

I downloaded SFCFix and went to run it. However, I received an error stating that the msvcp140.dll was missing. I was able to learn where it was located. There was a copy each in Windows/System 32 and Windows/SystemWow64.

Any thoughts

Thanks

Hi. . .

RE: Error code 0x80070422 -

Error 0x80070422 can occur on a Windows computer when running Windows Update, activating Windows Firewall or downloading from the Windows Store. In this article, we will talk about Windows Update error 0x80070422. When this occurs, it usually means that the Windows Update (WUAUSERV) is not started or Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Have you disabled any System Services?

Please post in our Windows Update forum and go through these instructions first - Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions

If you encounter any errors while running apps, be sure to let them know.
