Hello,

I found this site through google and saw that there are a lot of helpful people here so I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction! When I try to open certain programs on my windows 10 machine, I get an error about "policymanager.dll". I have tried doing a "sfc /scannow" but I get the "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but it was unable to fix some of them". I copied out the relevant parts and will paste them below. I tried to grab the original file from a windows 10 install ISO but I can't replace the file because it's open in another program. I used process explorer to see what is locking that DLL file and there are a lot of things locking it so... ya. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time <3

I followed a couple of other post instructions and still was not able to repair the policymanager.dll file. I will attach the CBS log files here in hopes that someone can help me please. I do have one question also: If I were to get the policymanager.dll file from another working windows 10 pro machine could I use something like 'hyrens boot cd' to get into a temporary windows environment and copy/replace my corrupted file? Or is that going to cause more problems? Again I appreciate any help that someone can provide, I thank you for your time in advance <3 I'll also paste below the commands I ran and the results from those commands(The G: drive is windows 10 USB install media):

Read Not received a reply? Quick note on response times

About your questions: you first should be sure to have the exact file the system needs, copy/save/note down the corrupt file owner and permissions, become its owner, get full permissions over it, substitute the corrupted file with the good one, then restore its owner and permissions.

Just wait a windows update analyst/expert. :-)

Ya I'll probably just wait for someone to reply. Thank you for the information, I appreciate it :) I'm just trying to put as much information into this ticket that I can, to help save time.

Hello and welcome,

Provide the full cbs.log that contains the lines in your first message.
To do so, copy the file C:\Windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the file cbs.log on your desktop and attach the zipped file to your next reply.
If the file is too big to attach please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.
