Please Help!!! I have been trying to update my computer for months, but the service pack 1 KB976932 consistently fails to install. I get an error code 800b0100 daily, and have tried Fix it, the system update readiness tool, and about any other online fix from microsoft without any solution. Attached is my cbs log. Please help, any input is better than where I am right now! Thanks in advanced, Eve.

Hi there Misstaravaj,

Not to worry, you're in safe hands here.
We'll take a look at your CBS folder and see what we can come up with.

Jack

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Your CheckSUR log is showing two corrupt files:

Code:
Unavailable repair files:
    servicing\packages\Package_2_for_KB2761451~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~9.4.1.0.mum
    servicing\packages\Package_2_for_KB2761451~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~9.4.1.0.cat

Lets fix that. :)

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Please download the file, Packs.zip from my Dropbox -->here<--and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing two folders, Manifests and Packages
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

  6. Open the Packages folder and copy the files into the following folder (if there are any files)

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

  7. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again
  8. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Kind regards,
Stephen

Thank you so much for the quck response!!! This website is truly a blessing. I was able to download the file, but was not able to locate the folder C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

on my computer so that I could copy the packages and put them there. Could it possibly have a different name? I"m so excited to be this close to a solution...thanks so much Stephen!

Thanks again, Eve.

Hi,

I would like you to run the SURT tool once again, not worrying about the files to start with. This should create the folders I need. Then, once you've run it once, try and find the folders. If you can find them, copy the files as directed, then run SURT again.

Directions for SURT if required:

Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

  1. Download the System Update Readiness Tool from Microsoft --> here <-- Please save the tool to a convenient location as it may be necessary to run it again.
  2. After the download has completed, double-click the file and wait while it initializes.
  3. Click Yes to begin installation. Please note it may take some time to complete and may appear to stall whilst installing. Don't worry, this is perfectly normal behaviour. Also note, whilst I say "installing", it's actually running the tool and can therefore be "installed" (run) repeatedly.

Regards,
Stephen

I ran SURT and found the Packages folder so that I can paste the files, but when I try to paste into this folder I get an error saying that the destination folder access is denied and I need permission to perform this action. Is this something that you have seen before?

Hi,

Are you using an Admin account to copy the files? If not, could you please log in with an admin account and try again.

Stephen

There is only one account on my computer, which it the administrator. Thats why this is so puzzling for me. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks for your patience and help, Stephen! You are amazing!

I enabled the hidden admin account, but it is still not allowing me to paste/change anything in the packages folder :(

Hmmm... could you please post a screenshot of the error you are receiving?

Stephen

Here is a screen shot... I am logged in as adminstrator and still can not perform the action.

I see.

You are copying the files into the wrong folder. You are copying them into

C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages

but you need to copy them into

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Stephen

Stephen, you are a techonological GENIUS!!! The fix worked and the updates downloaded!! Thanks a million times over...I thought I was going to lose my mind for a while there. You are amazing! I could not attach my CBS folder due to the size of the folder, but I have pasted the contents of the checksur log...Thanks again!

Forever Grateful, Eve.
