Persistent inability to update Monthly Security & Quality rollups on 8.1 (800F0922)

I have been unable, for some 6 months now, to successfully install the major monthly updates - mostly receiving the error code 800F0922, but occasionally I get 80246013 & 8007045B. It takes so long to fail - all told it takes between 30-45 mins each and every time as is it asks me to restart to complete the updates, and after hanging on 30%, quickly climbs to 100% to rollback what progress it made.

Here's my logs (12MB) via Wetransfer. I thought it might be this but I've checked the logs and there's no mention of timing out that I could see. My best guess is the below has something to do with it (no idea how to fix it, mind):-

I'm on Win 8.1, v6.3 (Build 9600). SFC found no integrity violations and DISM gave the following message:

The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was repaired.
The operation completed successfully.

Hi!

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

I'm afraid all Monthly Rollups & .NET Framework failed with 80246013. There were two misc updates relating to my monitor and HDD that successfully installed.

Hi, despite me ticking only one (think it was the Security Monthly Quality Rollup) when it came to restarting it said "installing 1 of 2 updates". Anyway, I woke up today to find they'd installed successfully, and I was able to install the remaining Security & Quality Rollup update this morning. Here's my CBS log if it's of any interest. Thank you so much for the help! To say it's been driving me mad would be an understatement. Was it simply corruption or had I done something?

I have deleted the offending registry key which allowed the install to proceed, but it required a reboot to be applied.

A quick aside: I noticed I have over 35GB of Window Updates when I run disk cleanup as administrator. Seems a little much considering I don't think I ever performed an OS upgrade on this PC. I'm not really in need of space (but I am planning to swap out my Hybrid/SSHD to an SSD), just wondered if I only have that much because of the dozens of failed install attempts?
