Odd Colour Problem

Hello everyone,

All of a sudden my PC has developed a preference for the colour "Red." Quite out of the blue all my drop-down boxes, new word processor documents, the address, search boxes and and the entire banner on Firefox have developed a red background. Anything I highlight eg., text to copy or move is red. Folder properties boxes have a red border and various red portions inside the box.

I have no idea how I managed to do this except that it first appeared when I was in the middle of deleting superfluous files and backing up using Seagate Dashboard although these actions may not be relevant.

I have looked at display properties and tried everything I can think of to rectify this problem to no avail. Otherwise everything is fine. Has anyone any idea how I can get back to the normal "white"?

Thanks & Regards

Jim

Hello again,

As often happens, asking a question prompts further research and I am happy to report that I have solved the problem:

It appears that when changing the background picture on my display I also changed the Theme to "Synchronised Theme" As soon as I changed to another theme, irrespective of the background image I used, the red colour disappeared.

What a syncronised theme is and how it differs from other themes, I really have no idea!

Regards,

Jim

I am glad you got it sorted out and thanks for coming back and posting the solution.

Synchronized theme, BTW, is for folks with multiple Windows devices (tablets, Windows phone, PCs, notebooks, etc.) who want all their devices to look the same. It works when you have Sync settings enabled on all the devices and you sign in with a Microsoft Account instead of a Local account. If you have Sync enabled on other devices and use a MS account, that might explain it. If you don't have other devices with Sync enabled, then maybe (I am guessing now) Windows just picked something at random.
