Hi everyone, so basically i ran across an issue with nvidia graphic driver update for my rtx 2060 super on windows 10 64 bit while updating to latest version. during installation process the updater failed after system restart stage, while removing old driver at same time leaving my pc without nvidia control panel. i tried to manually download driver and update but it didnt work, i used DDU to remove all nvidia files and clean registry with left over nvidia files and even that didnt work, it kept on failing during installing graphic driver process. i tried windows update and windows was not able to update nvidia display and other few files, i ran chkdsk and it says some of my files are corrupted but i dont know what happened. even system reset in recovery is not working and i dont have restore point too. after clearing devices through DDU the display option is not showing up in device manager and instead its showing other devices with few files below them which i cant uninstall them or repair them. i would be really grateful if anyone can help me out with the situation, ill provide you some screenshots and steps i undertook upon reply.

Also, open an elevated command prompt by clicking start type cmd, then CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER. An elevated command prompt will open. Copy and paste the following into it and let it run. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
After it completes, run the sfc /scannow again.

Did you run DDU in safe mode? If not please do.

Please do the following:

Step 1 - Replace Drivers Hive Manually

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download DRIVERS.ZIP and save to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on it and select Extract all.... Make sure the "Show extracted files when complete" is checked and click Extract.
  3. Now we have the DRIVERS file that we will be using to replace your current one.
  4. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  5. Right-click on the current DRIVERS file and select rename. Rename it to DRIVERS.bad.
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  6. Take the file from the Drivers folder on your desktop and paste it into C:\Windows\System32\config

Retry updating the drivers again.
