Hey Chaps,

It's been about 5 years since I was last on here. Life has been wild. I disappeared from the forums and the email I got about signatures brought me back.

Well, since I'm kinda "new" I'll give a brief description of me.

Name: Thomas
Age: 30 (I'm old now :'( )
Location: Central, WA

Bio:
To start off with, I've been a computer monkey / geek since the age of 10 when my family first got our own. From that point, it's been downhill for myself. I've done a wide variety of things, including a small phase as a bad kid, and that phase has long been over. I value the life I have, and the sheer thought of a 6x9 cell terrifies me more than knocking a woman up. I started working in IT around the age of 24, I've worked for a variety of companies, Boeing, Microsoft, Intuit, and VMWare to say the least. I'm currently on contract with Amazon, however that ends this month. My end goal for my career is to end up in Cyber Security, either working in the Private Sector, or working for Uncle Sam. My hobbies are fairly strange ones, I'm an archivist. I've spent more money on storage and hardware than most people spend on cars. In total capacity, I'm sitting around 500TB of usable space, with the drives to bump it to 750TB or more. This isn't my only hobby, however some of the other ones, I'm not going to talk about. I enjoy building things, be it computers, storage, or just some small tinkering, I find it to be peaceful. If you want a PC built, or you need help, hit me up. I'm more than happy to help with it.

My current project is converting a Full Size ATX tower into a 48 bay JBOD using a gutted Supermicro 45 Bay JBOD system. I've been working on the designs, and waiting until I've got the space/money to buy the 3D Printer I need to print the drive holds. I plan on releasing the specs, and recording all the work I do. The goal is to make a high capacity JBOD system that's quiet and easy to maintain than having a 4U vibrating object taking up half a desk. Just not fun.

Just ask and you'll know more :)

Cheers,
DSX

HDD1: HGST 12TB
HDD2: HGST 12TB
GPU: 2x 1080 Ti (One isn't in use atm)
Monitors: 4x Acer 27" 4K Monitors

Gaming Rig 2
CPU: Intel i7-7700K
RAM: G.Skill 32GB DDR4
SSD1: Samsung 960 EVO 256GB
SSD2: Intel 400GB 2.5"
SSD3: Fusion ioDrive2 800GB
HDDs: 10x 10TB HGST 7200RPM
GPU: NVidia 1080 (Upgrading to a 1080 Ti, giving the 1080 to my brother)
Monitors: 4x Acer 23" Monitors

Storage Arrays all use the same CPUs / Hardware

CPU: 2x Intel E5-2650v2
RAM: 128GB DDR3 ECC Memory
SSD1: 250GB OS Drive
SSD2: 250GB OS Drive

Storage-1
HDDs: 10x 10TB HGST

Storage-2
HDDs: 12x 8TB HGST

Storage-3
HDDs: 48x 6TB HGST

Storage-4 (Not Complete Yet, pending Storage-3 JBOD Completion)
HDDs: 96x 6TB

Compute Servers use the same Hardware as Storage, but upgraded gear.
CPU: 2x Intel E5-2650v4
RAM: 128GB/256GB DDR3 ECC
SSD1: 250GB OS Drive
SSD2: 250GB OS Drive
SSD3: 400GB Intel SSD
SSD4: 400GB Intel SSD
SSD5: 800GB Intel SSD
SSD6: 800GB Intel SSD

I have 6 Raspberry Pi 3's, and a opnsense router that aren't listed. My Raspberry Pi 3's run my monitoring for the network, and other nifty stats. I have 2x 50" Vizio TVs that I use for monitoring all my VMs, storage, and actual hardware. I get notifications when I have a drive fail.
Like I said, I'll post pictures as soon as I build the Storage-3 and Storage-4 systems. Right now, I'm shuffling between two different places, and I don't have my gear setup. Most of it's in storage, minus my Gaming Rig 2, which my younger brother has.
