SFC and System Update Readiness report errors. I have Windows Seven Ultimate 32 bits Spanish (Spain).

No, only traditional Spanish, and I always uninstall the English from the US that is installed by default.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service and just provide the link here.

My attention was drawn to the small size of the components file, so I was getting more information about that file in this thread: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-7-windows-vista/11691-restoring-backup- of-components-hive-what-issues.html
I tried with ShadowExplorerPortable-0.9 and when I did not find anything I decided to do it with Nirsoft's shadowcopyview that found two identical copies between them from the file dated 20 and 30 of last month, and this one has a size considerably larger than the one I had previously uploaded, so I upload it in case it helps.

Due to the number of errors, I have reason to believe that HW may be involved:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;

You can be sure that it is not a question of hardware, I have been repairing equipment for more than 35 years when DiskDoctor and DiskEdit of the Norton utilities were the best in the market, in any repeated failure in a hard disk the first thing I check is the health of the hard disk, its cables, the memory and the voltages of the power supply, and now has not been the exception. The system is working almost correctly with an exhautive use of it. However, to leave no doubt in that sense I have used GsmartControl that does not allow me to do the tests that you recommend me, neither from windows nor from Hirens Boot version 2018, so I have made them with the official software for Samsung, USBbootSetup -SeaToolsBootable, and with Wester Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics, all with correct results and whose reports I sent in the attached zip file.

My purpose in repairing one of my computers is not so much that it works correctly as knowing more about the operation of SFCFix, otherwise I would have already made a copy of the user files and would have reinstalled the system.

Yes, but I needed to check as this is a very large number of corruptions.

Just as an FYI, would you like to try and upgrade to Win10?

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, run SURT again and attach CheckSUR.log.

Ok thanks. No, I do not want to update to windows 10 yet, a lot of my software does not support it and I do not think I can do it satisfactorily.
