Hi there,
I was asked to post this thread by DonnaB of help2go.
I am running windows 7 as I upgraded from windows XP SP3.
I was told when I had the upgrade done that he could not install any audio for me. There is no audio output device installed. I was asked by DonnaB to give you the PCI DEV and VEN number. If there is nothing installed, i cannot go onto properties to find this information in the device manager can I ????
Thanks Kerry

Hi,vice
If that helps.
Thanks
I found under the details tab in device manager.
C-Media AC97 audio device
If that helps.
Thanks

If there is no driver installed there should be a yellow flag next to the device but it will still be listed.

This is what it looks like on my laptop I have a Realtec controller and the line for the PCI DEV and VEN number reads " HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0269&SUBSYS_1179FC36&REV_1001"
Ven(vender) is 10EC the dev(device) is 0269.

Hi there,
No there is nothing listed. THere is no device installed. I was told that my PC was abit old and could not get any audio to be installed. The only thing was a chip and speakers via a usb lead.
Thanks

Hi.
In my notification ara at the bottom right hand corner. THere is a sound icon with a red and white cross on it. When I click on it, it says no audio output device installed.

Are there any flags yellow or red in device manager?

You did find the Cmedia device in the device manager correct?
That is the audio device you just need to select hardware ID from the drop down on the details tap of the properties page.

Hi there,
These are them

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&SUBSYS_C00C144D&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&SUBSYS_C00C144D
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5&CC_0401

Thanks Kerry

What is the brand and model number of your motherboard (or PC if factory built)?

Look on the back of your computer in the rear panel I/O area (this is area where many connectors are clustered, including mouse, keyboard, etc.). Are there any audio connections? Typically, at least L, R and Mic. If not, then you need to buy a sound card. If there are audio connections, you need to make sure the audio device is enabled in the BIOS Setup menu.

Hi Bill,

This is a laptop, not a desktop. :) Your advice doesn't really apply for a laptop :p. For those unaware, this is a Samsung P3O.

Hi there,
Sorry for the delay.
When running the intel driver update, it scans my laptop and says that I need to have that latest version of java installed. At the top of my screen I have a message come up saying Java (TM) is required to display some elements of this page - install plug in is in a box. Do I go ahead and install it. Will it cause any problems?
THanks Kerry

Try the Realtec link I gave you > Realtek

What is the full model number for the laptop P30 isn't getting me anywhere on the Samsung site and around the net looks to be a 2 - 3 year old spec but don't think that's correct.

Hi,
I have looked on the back of the laptop and the full model number is -
NP30TPCUAA/SUK.

What do I do when I load Realtek.
What do I click on.
Sorry for all the questions.
Thank you

You have to accept the terms, click next, then to the right of where it says "Vista/Win7 (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)" click on one of the links to DL the file.
Open the file using Windows Explorer, at the top on the left side you'll see a button that says Extract All, press it use the default path given, once extracted double click on Setup.exe.

I have followed the instructions you have gave me, as I had already done that before. Nothing happens. Nothing starts to download. Is it because i am using google????
