New to the forum

Hi all
I am new to the forum. I can across this forum, while looking for a solution for my "unable to update". I still have not solved it, but will try the advice I have seen on the forums. I am running Windows 7 home premium. It has been about a year now that I have not been able to update my software. I am no fundi when it comes to the workings, but can make my way around the inner workings slowly. I have not been keeping up to date with the latest techno chatter.
