Built this PC for my son. It appears to be an issue with a driver, but I am having difficulty tracking down the exact cause.

  • A brief description of your problem (but you can also include the steps you tried)
    • Multiple BSODs per day, while browsing the net, or gaming (various games)
  • System Manufacturer?

    • Installed from bootable USB image from the microsoft website
  • Age of system? (hardware)
    • All new
  • Age of OS installation?
    • 7 days old
  • Have you re-installed the OS?
    • No
  • CPU
    • AMD Ryzen 3700X

    • Windows Defender
    • Avast Antivirus
  • Are you using proxy, vpn, ipfilters or similar software?

Unfortunately, there isn't much information we can gather from the dump file, especially a Minidump. Could you please check the following directory for a MEMORY.DMP, and then upload the file to a file sharing site such as Google Drive or Dropbox. The file will be too large to attach to a forum post.

Code:
%systemroot%\MEMORY.DMP

Please ensure that you zip the file as well. In the meantime, I would suggest removing all the bloatware from Gigabyte and AORUS. I would also suggest removing avast at least for troubleshooting purposes using their removal tool.

I've noticed that you have CCleaner, have you made sure it is set to not delete any dump files?

I enabled Driver Verifier, and noticed some entries regarding some of the drivers from gigabyte. I removed all of the Gigabyte software, and then re-downloaded and manually installed the individual drivers for my system (as opposed to using their live update utility).

It looks like the Gigabyte utility installed some incorrect versions of drivers. I haven't blue screened since, but will update this post if I do.

Unfortunately, I did not disable CCleaner from deleting dump files, so I no longer have them :(

Thank you for the quick response. I will update soon if the problem is not resolved.

Cheers,
Steve-

That's good news! Please let us know how it goes either way.

Have you unchecked that option now? I'm not sure why they thought it was a good idea to have it enabled by default.

Another Blue Screen... :(

I think the Gigabyte stuff was contributing, because they are less frequent now.

I zipped all of the dump files I have up, and uploaded them here:
dumps.zip

I disabled the clearing of dump files in CCleaner as well.

Thanks again for the help!

Steve-

Another BSOD while gaming. Saw that Razer Synapse was the thing that crashed. I kind of need the Razer software installed because I have a Razer mouse and a Razer Keyboard, both with RGB, that, to my knowledge, can only be controlled via the Razer Synapse software.

I just did a "Repair" on the Razer Synapse software, so we will see if that helps.

Driver Verification is still running. It looks like I may have several drivers that are acting up.

Here is a link to the new Dump file:

Thank you again in advance for any assistance you can provide. If I get this working for my son, I'm a hero :)

Thank you for providing the all dump files including the Kernel Memory dump (MEMORY.DMP).

I was about to post about that exact software! You shouldn't need it for the basic functions of the mouse and keyboard to work, but his it's a gaming mouse/keyboard, then it'll likely be required for your son to experience the full benefit of it.

I'll have a look at the other dump files for you.

With Driver Verifier running, it feels like the BSODs are happening even more frequently. Here is another round of DMP files.

round 3 of dumps.zip

Everything seems to point to bad drivers somewhere in the system, but is there an easier way to narrow down which ones are problematic?

There have been reports of latest NVIDIA drivers causing BSODs.
And I think a fix is in the working to be released soon.
If you're running 466.63 you can try a previous version of the drivers.

Using DDU and re-installing the earlier version of the NVidia driver appeared to be working last night as my son was gaming, but there have been 4 or 5 crashes today. I have zipped up the latest BSOD dmp files.

Is anything jumping out as the cause in any of these dump files I am uploading?

Thanks again for the help.

The latest dump files can be found here:

I let MemTest86 run all night. Passed with zero errors :-/

I ran this same ram in my previous system for 2 years with zero issues.

I have stripped all of the "fancy" software drivers from the computer now. I installed the older NVidia, without the optional GeForce Experience stuff. I uninstalled all of the Gigabyte bloat ware, including the RGBFusion software. I also uninstalled all of the Razer Mouse and Keyboard software.

I did install the latest AMD Chipset driver for the MB, and the latest Intel LAN driver.

I'm running out of ideas, to be honest.

Oh, I also disabled Windows Driver Verifier, as it didnt seem to provide much additional info, and felt like it was causing the system to BSoD more.

I can turn it back on if need be.

What else can I try?

Thanks,
Steve-

For testing purposes find RAM modules on the Qualified Vendor List (QVL).
I don't see how you can expect someone to potentially purchase for the sake of a QVL. Those lists are merely guidelines and RAM which has been tested by the motherboard manufacturer.

What else can I try?
You may want to consider running the system in Safe Mode with Networking and see if it crashes there. It'll help to establish if there is a hardware issue at fault here. Could you also please run the Sysnative log collection tool again? Just so we have the latest event logs etc.

Here is the latest File Collection.

I wiped the main drive and reinstalled windows. I applied the AMD chipset driver, the soundcard driver, and the LAN/WiFi driver. I then installed the latest Nvidia Video Driver, and the Razer Synapse package for my keyboard and mouse.

After all of that, I applied the latest windows updates.

My son gamed for about 20 minutes before the blue screen.

I'm thinking it may be a bad main board, but I am desperate for answers

Thank you again for all of your help.

Cheers,
Steve-
