New Mexico - Burned-out Tail Light Bulb is No Longer Enough for Cop to Pull You Over

A great and righteous decision by the New Mexico Supreme Court -- for New Mexican drivers, anyway; need a similar SCOTUS decision on this to apply in all states.

Most taillights have at least 2 bulbs; some have 4 (or more -?). LED taillights can have dozens of bulbs.

Yeah, that arrest was clearly bogus. I know cops have a hard time enforcing the laws - and surely get blamed when things go wrong even when they have no legal authority to prevent it. But if the drunk driver was not driving erratically or giving any other indication he was not properly operating the vehicle, he should never have been pulled over.
