I don't understand this, how can a new laptop behave like this?

I will spare the details. as a test I selected only one update. it took more than 6 hours to finish everything (with reboot then it says preparing windows configuration, then laptop restart: system update, then windows part configuration ...)

The funnies thing before I started to run windows update the first time, I changed the setting to manually.

So Even after this one update is installed succesfully (history list windows update tells that is ), everytime the laptop reboots, it needs more than an hours to prepare the windows configuration. and when it restarts, it stil needs an hour or even more.

I called microsft they said this is not normal, cause can be anything, but they send me an email to do a windows update fix first.

But it didn't help.

the service: module installer worker, sometimes get to 1000MB/s memory use, processor arround 50% and the harddisk movemend barely moves : 0.1-0.3MB (mostly 0.1)

Even after succesfully installation of the selected update, after the laptop boots up (after waiting for one hour or more), I stil see that service working hard.

Please help. Can you at least only answer me as quick as possible if it can be hardware related? As Tuesday is last day that I can switch the laptop for another one.

OS: windows 8 64 bit.

Laptop: MSI CR61 3M

If it is the Windows configuration that sounds more like the initial set up screen?

Does it say that windows is preparing /setting up your computer for the first time? Could you post a picture?

Honestly if it was me, and it was easy to do so I would just take it back and ask for a new one.

No, that message is not shown.

a new one: same msi Model, if it is this model that is the problem, then it's a problem.

Also, when I hit cntr alt del, it takes time before the screen appears.

It could of been the image that was loaded on the machine. Is this a local computer shop? or a big company?

What point does it stall on in the logon process?

I bought this computer from a shop, it's for private use.

it is also very slow in use , even my 2 years old laptop is faster.

They say it's ok t turn it back, but they first want to check it is is not a software problem, but they make no problem to give me another one if needed.

and MSI support says to try F3 after reboot (recovery ). that is now buzzy. I had several option to clean the harddisk, I have choosen the recovery that needs more time to finish, so I'm sure it's cleaned up perfect.

No, same problem, even the recovery took more then a half day. but I did choose the recovery that would make sure not data is left on the harddisk or something likethat, maybe a method to make sure data cannotbe retrieved.

But I received an email that confirms my right to give it back, but they first want to see if it is a software related problem after I told them that MSI told me that in 7 days I can have a new one. but anyway, I'm happy they will take a look at it, and they did say that they will change it if problem is not solved.

update:

E1 processor are not that great!

microsoft told me that E1 processors are very slow as they handle everyting (video, .. ).

After the laptop was fixed ,the seller only installed windows 8.1 , it has first windows 8. I got it back but still processor use was very high and laptop doing nothing.

if I tried a youtube video, internet explorer stops working after a while.

windows update stilll very slow.

So I used the limited warranty that MSI gives (7 days to bring laptop back to got another one).

So I bought another MSI laptop with I5 processor and double memory (8GB). cost more but works great!
