Hello all,
The new cumulative security update for Windows 10 was installed on my Lenovo Edge15 on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
When I turned my computer on, I could login, but then got a black screen. I did a number of things to try to get rid of the black screen, including running RestoreHealth, restore to a specific point, and uninstalling the updates (there were 3 listed updates installed on the 9th).
I was able to uninstall 2 of the 3 updates, but not KB 4598481.
I tried running the Troubleshooter, but it didn't work, and I tried doing a remove-package command in the command prompt environment (in administrator mode).
I got an error message - error 0x800f0825, permanent package cannot be uninstalled after running the remove-package command.
I did manage to get rid of the black screen, but the system is still not working as it did before the update on Tuesday. For example, I can't get onto the internet (using the Microsoft Edge browser).
Per your specifications before posting I ran SFC /scannow. The message I received is Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.
Because I can't access the internet, I am unable to download the SFCfix program or send you the CBS file.
I have been hoping that I won't need to uninstall and reinstall Windows 10, but at this point, I wonder if that's what needs to be done.
Any advice is welcome. Thank you!
