I tried sfc /scannow before I knew about this site. it did not load just blinking cursor.
I tried to run DISM (I have been to this rodeo before)
it loaded but did not run.
I then found your site and ..well perhaps you might have more magic.
sfcfix ran and I post all that I can get from CMD box.
DSIM loaded itself but all there is is blinking cursor. Has been this way for 90 minutes.
Task Manager shows no activitity at all at CPU, drive, ethernet ..just a 2% activity on CPU.
I do not want to turn off.

Where to from here if you can help thanks.
Jumpy

For completeness I also add the tail end of the CBS.Log file if you want. Not sure if it contains compromising info otherwise would post.

I ran your tool and basically just let it take as much time as needed. The CMD is still open and nothing happening. Loathe to shutdown
Perhaps the logs help.

The whole log file is 33 MB. I could take snaps of the tail end.

Hi Jumpy. 🖖

Let it run until a windows update specialist will reply to you.
In the meanwhile, you can upload your CBS folder here.
How to do it? You can check step 5 (and the one after step 6) here: Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions

Or you can use the following command from a command prompt (non-elevated or elevated, it's the same thing), then zip the cbs folder you'll find on your desktop and post it here (with the aid of an extern website for file sharing, if the resulting file should be too large):
Code:
md "%userprofile%\desktop\cbs" & copy C:\Windows\Logs\cbs\* "%userprofile%\desktop\cbs"

Thank you for your reply. I had to shutdown (desk top).
I do not know how long it actually took to shutdown, but much much longer than usual, more than the 5 minutes I waited. I restarted now about 10 hours later and it is up and running.

I initiated a chkdsk before shutdown, which ran when I restarted.
I can now expand the CMD frame, previously locked in size.
I have now iniated sfcfix did a check and initiated its DiSM tool.
Looks like it will take some time.
will repost when there is outcome.

Ok. sfcfix finished.
The first image is when I tried to run DISM.
The second is after running sfcfix.

Not sure what the difference is but might be useful to you.
Why I came..:
Initial symptoms were, could not run any CMD programs, nor Disc Clean.

I attach zipped CBS log of your sfcfix run. Might be instructive.

Happy camper
