Hi! A software that I downloaded caused problems with my windows 7 32 bit installation. It might have deleted some dll files of my pc as I was getting several errors related to windows update like error code 80072ee2. I have taken all the steps that you have posted in the instructions but still facing problems. My link to CBS folder and SFCfix file: CBS.zip - Google Drive

Hi. . .

See if running Windows System Restore will get rid of the app that you downloaded/installed/executed and reinstate the now-missing DLL files.

Windows System Restore - Restore your System (Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 & Vista)

Be sure to select a restore point prior to the date of installing the offending app.

Curiosity, please - how do you know that you are missing DLL files?

What app did you download that you suspect caused all of this trouble? Do you have a link to it? Thank you.

Regards. . .

I know my pc has missing dll files because I wanted to test a usb that wasn't getting detected. Upon doing some research I suspected a missing usb driver so I installed this software: Download and Install Best-matched Drivers for 10 Millions+ Windows PCs | Driver Talent at first I thought its legit but when I ran a malwarebytes scan I got 2 detections in registry keys which I deleted later. Then my pc started causing errors when running any windows component like windows media player or windows usb to dvd tool which prompted that some file is missing in my folder and hence the utility cannot be used. Later I searched for what could be done so ran TDSSkiller and found a medium warning rootkit and removed it, after which I started getting more errors related to windows update. I also ran kaspersky recovery disk and found 4 detections recently. Now I also suspect that I have missing registry keys.

Thanks for the help sir. I found out that my windows can update now. Apparently this corruption was caused by the faulty driver that I installed. I ran malwarebytes scan which found 2 registry key PUPs, Kaspersky rescue disk spotted about 4 errors and I ran eset online scanner today which detected another 7 infected files. Hope so there is no more threat lurking in my pc.:smile9:
