System BSOD on me 3 times today. I ran Syschk /scannow which found some issues some of which it fixed. One issue that it could not was regarding a themecpl file. Ran system readiness tool followed by Syschkfix. Syschkfix repaird the themecpl file apparently

From the stop codes and drivers indicated, I'd like to check the disk SMART stats.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the content of the GSmartControl .zip archive and execute gsmartcontrol.exe; To extract you can right-click your mouse on the GSmartControl.zip file and select Extract.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);

When I click on that link for GSmart Control I got a 404 error. Had to go to Sourceforge and downloaded it from Download GSmartControl from SourceForge.net. The only download there that I could see was an exe file. Downloaded it and extracted its contents to a folder. When I selected any of the tests I got the error attached. Even tried running the EXE as Administrator under Windows7 did not make any difference.

Yes I had cleaned this computer just recently. I am running a test here to see if these BSOD are related to a particular piece of remote access / support software. Each time the computer has BSOD on me within June was when the software was installed and running in the background. I uninstalled the software after the last BSOD late last week. No BSOD since then but these types of problems are a pain to determine if they are actually fixed.

Do you recognize id_service.exe? I'm guessing the software was RemotePC or something else by iDrive?

Ya I have iDrive cloud Backup installed on this computer and the possible culprit was also from iDrive but was their RemotePC software for remote support. RemotePC was the one uninstalled. The iDrive cloud backup software is still installed.

Please download MGADiag.exe from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012 and do the following
  • Open it, if you're prompted click Yes and click Continue,
  • Click Copy, you will get an error that you can ignore,
  • Paste in your reply and post it.

The thing is as I mentioned the other day since I uninstalled iDrive RemotePC last week, there has not been any BSOD.

Could you tell us the age of the hardware?

Just for clarification, according to the report I requested you have a retail activation key, but in the question on whether the OS is OEM or retail you answered OEM what contradicts with the report. Could you elaborate on this?

Apologize for the mix up. I have several computers here and some of them are using Retail and some OEM. I was certain this particular box was using an OEM version of Windows 7. This hardware is ancient in the terms of computer hardware. Its an old AMD 6000+ CPU with 8 GB of memory which has had its power supply replaced last year. Its had Windows7 reinstalled over the years several times and originally had XP to begin with.
