MSE Upgrade to 4.1.522.0 available through Windows Update

I just upgraded MSE through WU (after checking for new updates and saw Microsoft Security Essentials Client Update Package KB2754296 (Important). If it's not yet showing for you, give it time - there may be some level of phased availability. It now shows:

Antimalware Client Version: 4.1.522.0
Engine Version: 1.1.8800.0
Antivirus definition: 1.137.449.0
Antispyware definition: 1.137.449.0
Network Inspection System Engine Version: 2.0.8001.0
Network Inspection System Definition Version: 11.159.0.0

The installer dowloaded from the MSE website shows it’s for 4.0.1525.0 and not the new version (and properties shows the same File Version which just means the installer and not the underlying MSE program version) so there’s no way to tell what version will actually download even if I suspect they just used the old installer and didn’t bother to change it so it showed the installer for the new version and that the new version may actually download if I’d gone through with the reinstallation from there instead of using WU. But I don't know and can't test without uninstalling and re-installing now that I've upgraded. Perhaps someone who installs or reinstalls MSE from the website can verify what happens at this time.

No reboot needed. Created second icon momentarily, but mouseover removed obsolete one instantly.

Opening worked fine. It also updated definitions at the same time. Quick scan ran fine - possibly a bit faster but I've not been paying enough attention to be certain (it just seemed that way to me).

Noticed all items in Quarantine show the current date and time when you check (they were all reset). Furthermore, it keeps changing with the system clock when you recheck a few minutes later. Anyone else seeing that?

Default Actions unchecked the option to apply defaults automatically which I'd had checked and I needed to recheck the box.

If there are any other changes, they seem to be internal as I can see no differences in the UI beyond those noted above.

Will update (pardon the pun - :smile9:) after Full Scan and if/when I know or see/hear more.

Kosh
