Hello and welcome to the forum.

First lets get those corruptions fixed up to see if that solves the issue of WU not working.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC /SCANNOW
  1. Right click on the

    Code:

It looks like it solved only one file out of the 2, msdt.exe as the sfc confirms is still corrupted:

Hello again,

Not sure what happened to CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-msdt_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_a558b8167eda0eef\msdt.exe as I included that file in the zip file.

Never mind we will try and repair this one again.

Same steps as before and the file is in the same location as before (the previous link I sent you will work for this new file)

Alex

I tried the new file -- same result

Code:
SFCFix version 2.4.1.0 by niemiro.

Using .zip script file at C:\desktop\SFCFix.zip [3]

for some reason it won't use the msdt.exe file in the zip..

should I try manual copy?

Sorry I was a way on a business trip.

I tried to extract the zip file that I gave you previously and got an error. What I have done now is manually zipped up the files and uploaded it to the same spot as before. This file let me extract it, so hopefully it works. If not we will then try and do it manually.
