MS Office 2016 updates don't come; don't install

I installed Office 2016 (64 bit) when it was released. I still receive updates to Office 2013 which, of course, fail to install.

Recently I've found and manually downloaded some updates to Office 2016. When I tried to install them though I got the error message 'There are no products affected by this package installed on this system.'

How to fix this?
Thanks a lot.

Be sure that you have downloaded the update packages for the 64-bit version of Office.
If you have the correct architecture but still get the error message, try running the update with the option PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1.

Example: "C:\temp\office2016update.exe PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1"

What errors are the Office 2013 updates returning?

Thank you, with PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1 I installed mso2016-kb3114970-fullfile-x64-glb.exe and msodll302016-kb3114971-fullfile-x64-glb.exe.

After many failures I gave up trying to install the Office 2013 updates; as far as I recall there had been no other error message than the installation failed. Now, per your question, I double checked if there is any specific note on the error. To my surprise the last three updates, sent in these days, were installed.

Yes, please. Manual update is much better than none, is there any way though that I could receive the Office 2016 updates from Microsoft, not the Office 2013?
Thank you very much.

If you check the list of installed updates (Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Installed Updates) do any updates for Office 2016 appear in the list?

Not even those that I installed now manually. The recent Office 2013 updates do appear though.
I triple checked in 'installed programs' that Office Pro Plus 2016 is on my laptop.
I set the update option 'notify me but I choose when to install' thus I normally know what is happening.

Is this an Office365 subscription or Click2Run installation of Office 2016?

Try the following in any of the Office 2016 applications (if this option appears):
File-> Office Account-> Update Options-> Update Now

This option replied:
'You're up to date!
The latest version of Office is installed on your computer.'

Latest version, sure. However, up to date seems not. As said, I've never received any Office 2016 update, nor does any appear among the installed updates. I also wonder if the updates that I installed manually, and received acknowledgement it was successful, but aren't shown among the updates installed, are or are not in fact installed.

Thank you, I see now that my Office 2016 keeps updating without notifying me among other windows updates, nor showing it among installed updates.

What is still not clear is the Office 2013 updates. In the first weeks after I'd upgraded to Office 2016, they failed to install, so I gave it up. Now, after your question, I tried again and they did install, also appear among the installed updates. Didn't it do any trouble in my Office 2016? Now I always see the notifications about new important windows updates that turn out to be irrelevant, as relating to Office 2013, can't I stop receiving these?

Today I received updates to Office 2007. Does it mean that the earlier versions are somehow embedded in Office 2016 and should be installed?

As long as Office 2013 is still installed you will receive updates for it. If you would like you can uninstall Office 2013.
Usually the Office 2007 updates (if you don't have Office 2007 installed) are the result of a preloaded Office 2007 trial or document viewer, such as Word Viewer or PowerPoint Viewer.

Does anything like that appear in Programs and Features?

In Programs and Features only Office 2016 appears. Neither Office 2013 or 2007, nor Word or PowerPoint Viewer. I can see MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser and MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (KB2758694). Frankly, I have no idea what these are and how they got there.

I think a pure Office 2016 would be the best, hence I'd prefer to get rid of everything else, how can I?

In Program Files I see a folder 'Microsoft Office' that contains, among others, a folder 'Office 16'. Another folder in Program Files is called 'Microsoft Office 15'; this contains one folder only 'ClientX64' which, in turn, contains two files only: IntegratedOffice.exe and OfficeClickToRun.exe

There are two entries of OfficeClickToRun.exe
In Program Files/Microsoft Office 15/ClientX64/ and in
Program Files/Common Files/microsoft shared/ClickToRun/
