I am not sure whether to describe this event as a "crash". I was not using this computer when it happened but the person using it says the monitor suddenly blacked out but the power light was still lit. Also at the same time a fast spinning sound was coming from the case as if the fans were spinning way to fast. I had to disconnect the pc and restart it. As of this writing the pc is installed with latest updates.

So this happened just once when someone else was using it? And now it seems to work fine?
If so, probably nothing to do. You can look in the Event logs if you know the time it happened.
If it happens again, I would try a different monitor. This will help tell you if the problem is in the monitor, or computer.

But since this appears to have been a one-time thing, not sure event viewer will be of much help. In the meantime, I would make sure all your cables are securely fastened and everything is up to date.
