I have an SBS 2011 server that won't install service pack 1 and these are the errors i get when i run the readiness tool.

Ok, It will take about 30 minutes to run it. I'll delete the old cbs.log file so its clean and not as large. Will report back when it fails. Thanks.

For some reason when i created a new cbs log file it won't let me open the new one. when i try and open it i am given access but it quits responding trying to open it. Here is the log file from earlier today where SP1 failed after rebooting at the 15% mark and then reverted changes. I am trying to fix the new cbs.log file that was just created. The file is too large to upload here so i uploaded it to my sync share at https://CahabaValley.syncedtool.com/shares/file/d98bdb60de2c2d/,do you need the new cbs log or will this one do?

Please do the following:

Restart Windows in Safe Mode w/networking.

Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable

  • Extract the tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip to c:\Windows\TEMP the zip will extract to a folder called Tweaking.com - Windows Repair
  • Execute the file Repair_Windows.exe from the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair folder, accept the Security warning and the EULA
  • Click the button Jump To Repairs
  • Click the Open Repairs button to access the following screen:
    WindowsRepair.png
  • Click the box All Repairs to uncheck all the boxes
  • Check only the following boxes:
    • 16 - Repair Windows Updates
  • Check the box Restart/Shutdown System When Finished > Restart System
  • Click the Start Repairs button
  • When the system reboots, attempt the update again.

OK, I will test this out this afternoon after hours to prevent downtime and get back with you as soon as I can. Thank you.

Unfortunately now it failed before even getting to the point of restarting and asked me to run the readiness tool.

I ran it again and it went through until reboot then failed again at 15% during reboot. It’s reverting changes so as soon as it’s back up I’ll upload the cbs log.
