Good morning,

Quick question, when creating a windows user account, if one chooses to use a microsoft email to create the user, can that account later be removed from the PC without any special steps?

Because of all the user sync stuff, will deleting the user from the PC or deleting the user folder affect anything (as in delete, for example, files from onedrive)?

There are steps but not difficult. removing a microsoft account from a Windows 10 laptop

Turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive

Ty for the reply,
I know how to turn off or disable OneDrive etc, my question (I probably didn't explain myself correctly) is if there's any impact in just creating a new user, login to said user, and remove the old account (without going to said account to stop onedrive sync for example).

Probably not. I really can't find anything on that particular instance and I've never tried it myself.

It seems to me, that if you simply removed an account from a PC, locally, it would not affect OneDrive. If you went through the online process of removing an account then it might. Either way, I'm still not sure.

One way to find out is to utilize a Virtual Machine or Windows Sandbox, then create an account. Make some fake text files and make sure they sync to Onedrive. Create another account and delete the first account and check OneDrive to see if the file is still there.
