The last few entries on the official Windows 8 developer blog have seen articles that discuss in detail the Metro apps that Microsoft has included with the new operating system. Today, Microsoft concludes this Metro app series with a look at the revised version of the official Windows 8 Photos app.

Written by Brad Weed, a group program manager on the Windows Live team, the blog talks about the features of the Photos app. One feature comes from feedback from Windows 8 users, who told Microsoft that most of their photos are on their PC; Microsoft has decided to link the Photos app to the desktop SkyDrive client. Weed states:

Now, if you install the SkyDrive desktop app, you can choose to have all of your photos automatically sent and saved to SkyDrive. Any PC with the SkyDrive desktop app installed will show up in the Photos app. So by simply running SkyDrive desktop app on the PC(s) where all your photos reside, the Photos app will reach back to that PC so that you can look at your old photos alongside your recent ones. You'll soon be revisiting photos you forgot you had.
