Hi,

I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro x64 to Windows 7 Pro x64 and right away Microsoft Edge was sluggish and would not open most flash websites correctly. Figured out that I must have a corrupt profile. So I created a new profile and Edge worked fine.

From the Microsoft article below I copied tried to copy files and folders from my corrupted user profile to the new one. I had major problems with this. I managed to copy my old profile to a new profile but had to use a third party program "TerraCopy" to move the folders over. This took only a few minutes. I tried the copy just using Windows and it was taking hours.

Shortly after that apps would close immediately after opening. I used the command in PowerShell which worked for me:

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"

After that Edge stopped working. Went through the motions of creating a new profile copying files and using the powershell command. Got to a point where things were working for few weeks, but Windows 10 was behaving strangely. So did a "refresh" of Windows 10 keeping nothing and things have been working just fine.

I periodically use Microsoft Edge and it has been working for quite a few weeks just fine. I have its home page as a flash website of monoface . If Edge is working fine it renders quickly. Now it just has a blank white page. When I check out the adobe flash player test page below, the animation works just fine.

However if if I right click the monaface page, I get the flash player context menu. If I press "play" twice the page starts to render for a fraction of second and stalls.

So once again I create another user as admin and then log on and try it again...and of course it opens the monoface webpage correctly as above. This is the behavior I was seeing when I was first having Edge problems.

Tried the procedure, "How to reset Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 when things are broken" below with no effect:
How to reset Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 when things are broken | Windows Central

Also mounted the Windows 10 .iso and tried the command below in powershell with no effect:
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Also tried sfc /scannow and there are no corruptions.

Tried a system restore from the oldest restore point I had with no change.

I seem to be really chasing my tail. It is definitely not my effort to reinstall Windows 10 just to get Microsoft Edge to work which seems ridiculous. Copying profiles has not worked well for me. Everything else on my computer seems to work just fine.

Any ideas on how to get Edge working without creating a new profile or wiping my system?

Any help would be appreciated.

I restored an image of my system and I was able to get Microsoft Edge working but had to reinstall quite a bit of stuff. During daylight saving time recently my pc time did not synchronize and it will not update the time. I will make a new post.
